Harry Lyon was a crewman on board the Southern Cross flight, 1928, with Charles Kingsford-Smith and Charles Ulm. - Scope and ContentThis is an original finished flight chart from the first part of the Southern Cross trans-Pacific flight, with navigator Harry Lyon's annotations plotting the path of the aircraft. His ink inscriptions include the latitude and longitude, course, elapsed distance and distance remaining to Honolulu. Army radio beacons at San Francisco and Honolulu enabled the Southern Cross to maintain a steady bearing on this part of the flight.
