    D. E. MacDonald, a warehouseman of Dulwich Hill, N.S.W. was born in Wellington, New Zealand. He enlisted at Liverpool, N.S.W. at the age of 22, Mar. 1915 and embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A32 Themistocles, 12 May 1915. He served as a corporal with the 17th Battalion, B Company in Gallipoli, France and Belgium, was wounded Sept. 1915 and was discharged as medically unfit, Apr. 1917
