    Thomas Alexander White, a schoolteacher of Dulwich Hill, N.S.W., enlisted 9 June 1916 and embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A40 Ceramic, 7 Oct. 1916. He served as a Lieutenant and later as a Captain with the 13th Battalion, Australian Imperial Forces, in France and Belgium, 1916-1919. From Mar. to July 1917 he was a training officer in England. He was wounded in May 1918 and after treatment in England returned to France, Oct. 1918
