  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Sir Hudson Fysh of St Leonards, Tasmania was a founder of Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Ltd (QANTAS), 1920. He was a woolclasser aged 19 when he enlisted with the A.I.F., 26 Aug. 1914 and embarked from Hobart on board Transport A2 Geelong, 20 Oct. 1914. He served with the 3rd Light Horse Regiment, C Squadron in Gallipoli, was seconded to the 67th Squadron, Australian Flying Corps, 6 July 1917 and appointed Flying Officer Observer 4 Dec. 1917. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, 2 Oct. 1918 and returned to Australia on HT Port Sydney, 5 March 1919
