James Ray Lewis, farmer of Bogan Gate, Parkes, New South Wales, was 19 years old when he enlisted, 16 Aug. 1917. He embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board HMAT A14 Euripides, 31 Oct. 1917 and served with the 17th Battalion in France. He was wounded in the attack on Mt. St. Quentin 31 Aug. 1918. After treatment in military hospitals in England he returned to Australia Feb. 1919 on the hospital ship Tokada, and was discharged 13 Mar. 1919 - Scope and ContentCovers the period August 1917 to March 1919. Describes training camps in Australia, life on board the transport Euripides, 31 Oct.-26 Dec. 1917, active service in France 1918, leave in England, and the return voyage to Sydney, 25 Dec. 1918-14 Feb. 1919
