    Corporal Claude Corderoy Benson, a tailor of Kogarah, Sydney was born in Armidale, New South Wales and enlisted at Liverpool, 6 June 1915. He embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A9 Shropshire, 20 Aug. 1915 and served with the 13th Battalion A.I.F. He was captured 11 Apr. 1917 on the Hindenburg Line near Riencourt, France
  • Scope and Content
    Describes capture, confinement in France and Germany and experiences at the Exchange Barrack at Gustrow, Germany where he cared for sick prisoners. He describes the camp and hospital at Gustrow and escape from Aachen into Holland. Includes postcard photographs of Gustrow Camp, some with letters to his wife on back, 23 Jan.-29 July 1918
