  Signaller James Purser Irwin, warehouseman of Harkway, Victoria enlisted 20 Jan. 1916 aged 20 years and embarked from Melbourne on board HMAT A33 Ayrshire, 3 July 1916. He served with the 21st Battalion in France, was hospitalised with trench fever, June 1917 and invalided to Australia on HT Pakeha 22 Oct. 1917
