    David Stead, marine biologist and zoologist. Member, International Committee on Fisheries and Marine Biology. Managing Director, Australian Whaling Company Ltd. Founder, Wild Life Preservation Society of Australia (1911) and active in the Geographical Society of New South Wales and the Linnean Society of New South Wales. Founder and Chairman, World Peace Campaign, 1936. Married third wife, botanist and academic Thistle Harris (1902-1990), in 1951. Harris published a number of books on Australian flora and was a Councillor for the Australian Conservation Foundation and the Nature Conservation Council of New South Wales
