    Drawings - 1 watercolour on ivory miniature in oval shaped wooden frame painted black in colour with gold painted inner edge, mounted within gold painted cardboard with glass front cover, and cardboard backing. At the back of the frame are two loops for hanging. - 8.7 x 6.8 cm. portrait, inside frame (sight) - 19 x 15.7 cm. (frame)

    Jane Penelope Reibey, daughter of Thomas and Mary Reibey, was married to John Atkinson, merchant and auctioneer, in 1824. John Atkinson formed a partnership with John Bingle, John Macqueen, and Richard Charles Pritchett -- Reference: Colonial Secretary Index 1788-1825, State Records of NSW, Online Dec. 2003
  • Scope and Content
    The female in this portrait wears a navy [silk] dress with a rounded waist, soft full sleeves, a separate white collar with red trim suggestive of nautical style with tie at front, a fob watch at waist, and an ornamental crown in hair.
