    Drawings - 1 watercolour on ivory miniature in rectangular japanned wooden frame, black in colour with raised gold coloured inner edge decorated leaf pattern, rectangular glass front, and a metal clasp shaped like a leaf with two metal loops at centre top of frame to assist with hanging. - 8.3 x 6.9 cm. portrait, inside frame (sight) - 15 x 13.3 cm. (frame)
  • Scope and Content
    The male in this portrait wears a dress uniform that comprises a military jacket of red face cloth and a blue-black stand collar, gold epaulettes, and regimental brass buttons.

    This portrait, along with miniatures of Elizabeth Macquaire (MIN 237) and Lachlan Macquarie Junior (MIN 238), were gifts to Captain John Cliffe Watts of the 46th Regiment from Lachlan Macquarie.

    A note about the provenance of this miniature is located at PXn 52.

    The portrait is very similar in style and dress to a miniature of Lachlan Macquarie located at MIN 71.

    The frame is similar to one used for a miniature of Elizabeth Macquarie (MIN 237).
