In 1846 Reverend Henry Tingcombe, a newly ordained deacon, became the first Church of England minister in Armidale, NSW. In 1858 he was appointed third rector of St John's Church, Camden, NSW. He also served at Bathurst and Sydney. - Scope and ContentTwelve 'Lett's Australasian Diaries' with regular entries by Henry Tingcombe recording his life at Camden. The entries are generally quite brief but they do provide interesting insights into the working and social life of a country clergyman in the mid 19th century and also into the lives of his parishioners. There are references to members of the Macarthur, Oxley, King and Hassall families with whom Tingcombe was acquainted. He also provides monthly accounts of his expenses. The 1862 diary has a list of inhabitants of Camden by street giving occupations and religion.
