  3. Gold ear ring, c.1810 (R 804 a-c)
  Identified by a note written and signed by Alexander Berry, MLMSS 315/53 Items 22-25. re destruction of the ship Boyd and massacre of the crew on the New Zealand coast, 1810. Note reads `Ear ring in the ear of Nancy Morley [sic] whom I saved in New Zealand in 1810, given to me as a Memorial on the 28th April 1863. The accompanying envelope is also inscribed and signed by Alexander Berry (R 804 a-c)

  Handwritten in pen and ink on card edged with gilt, engraved illustration of a jungle scene (9.2 x 6.2 cm). An accompanying envelope is inscribed in ink `Defence of the character & conduct of the late Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin/1803/Shelley [sic] memorials/edited by/Lady Shelley/now first printed/Second edition/Boscombe. 1859’. This inscription refers to other items received as part of the same accession (R 805)
