    Joseph Adams Palmer, a butcher of Raymond Terrace, N.S.W. enlisted aged 18 at West Maitland 8 December 1915 and served with the 34th Battalion, Australian Imperial Forces in France. He was wounded 10 March 1917 and gassed 17 April 1918. He returned to Sydney 25 February 1919 and was discharged 17 April 1919

    Describes voyage to England on the S.S. Hororata May-June 1916, front line action and battalion movements in France Nov. 1916-Apr. 1918 with recuperation periods in England after being wounded and gassed, and return voyage to Sydney on the S.S. Orsova, Jan-Feb 1919
