    T. C. Hawkes was a dental assistant of Wagga Wagga, N.S.W. when enlisted in the Dental Corps of the Australian Imperial Forces at the age of 24, 3 July 1915. He embarked on the S.S. Beltana for England, 13 May 1916 and served as a dentist in military camps. He returned to Australia on the Port Lyttleton, arriving back in Wagga Wagga 15 Dec. 1917
