    Terence Ward Garling of Longueville, New South Wales applied for a commission in the A.I.F. at the age of 20, Sept. 1914 and embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A8 Argyllshire on 18 October 1914. He served as a gunner with the Australian Field Artillery, Divisional Ammunition Column Section 1 in Gallipoli, Egypt and France and was promoted to Captain, Mar. 1916 and Major, May 1917. He was wounded in action (gassed), 26 Sept. 1917 and was killed while in action with the 37th Battery in Dernancourt, France on the Somme River, 5 Apr. 1918, aged 24
